Types and forms of domestic violence, as well as the concept and mechanism of the Istanbul Convention, were discussed by higher education seekers during the event within the framework of the all-Ukrainian campaign “16 days against violence”.
The speaker of the training “Gender-based violence and the Istanbul Convention” was Vladyslava Irinieieva, an expert on the prosecutor’s office reforming of the regional representative office of the European Union Consultative Mission in Lviv.
The purpose of the online meeting is to define the key terms of gender-based violence, the scale of its spread, its nature and dynamics.
Vladyslava Irinieieva presented statistical data on violence against women in the member states of the European Union and in Ukraine. She noted that, in general, law enforcement bodies receive information on only 2-19% of all cases.
The cadets examined the main four fundamentals of the Istanbul Convention: prevention/avoiding, protection, criminal prosecution, coordinated policy.
