As a part of the information event «16 Days Against Violence», the results of the shorts video contest «Upgrade: Throw off the stereotypes!» by the public organization «The tenth of April».
The first place went to the work of Valeriia Maklakova, Dariia Putria and Karolina Bilous, cadets of the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs. The cadets of the faculty of training of specialists for preventive activities demonstrated their own vision of gender equality and combating stereotypes. The winners were awarded special certificates.
The speakers of the event – Svitlana Perzhynska, an officer for combating gender-based violence, Iryna Kozyr, a psychologist, and Tetiana Miakushko, a case manager of the department for combating gender-based violence – reminded the purpose and the main tasks of the campaign and focused on the importance of symbols of combating domestic violence.
The participants of the event also joined the art therapy exercise «Motanka Doll». Its purpose is to help people deal with negative feelings, overcome stress, strengthen mental health, improve social adaptation, develop self-awareness, and resolve conflicts in the context of joint creative activity.
The event helped the police officers to acquire new knowledge about gender-based violence, the ways to overcome it and solve the problem.
