War veterans Mykhailo Drobotenko, Yevhen Serhienko and Andrii Kazaryn took part in an educational event for first-year cadets held at the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs. The military told the cadets their own stories of serving in the army and how they got injured.
“I was mobilized in April 2022 and spent two and a half years serving in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as part of the 53rd separate mechanized brigade as a machine gunner, rifleman, and then received the rank of an officer. Our brigade has always been serving in the Donetsk region, where fierce and bloody battles still go on.
In October, in the area of the city of Bakhmut assault operations continued for three days, our group was surrounded, some fighters died, some were wounded and captured,” said Yevhen Serhienko, who had been in captivity for several months. “Thousands of our boys and girls are still in torture camps, they are kept in inhumane conditions.”
Mykhailo Drobotenko is a former serviceman of the 57th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade named after Kostia Gordienko, who in March 2022 in the city of Sievierodonetsk, the Luhansk region, while performing a combat mission, was blown up by an enemy mine and lost both lower limbs. Mykhailo is a strong – willed person, he is a participant of the international festival “Arnold Classic Europe” (October 2023 – Madrid, Spain), an ambassador of the “Strongmen of Ukraine” project.
Andrii Kazaryn served in the 80th Air Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the electronic warfare unit, participated in the defense of the Kharkiv, Luhansk and Donetsk regions. He was wounded twice, after being wounded for the first time he recovered and returned to serve. The second wound was very serious. Now he is demobilized because of the injury.
The DonSUIA thanks the veterans for their participation in educating cadets, serving as an example for young people by their dedication and heroism. Glory to Ukraine!
