International sports competitions Strong Spirit’s Games among war veterans and wounded servicemen took place in Madrid (Spain) as part of the Arnold Classic Europe festival.
Representatives of Ukraine, the United States, Estonia, Ireland and the Netherlands competed in the following sports: bench press, air bike, rowing on a simulator, kettlebell jerk.
In total, Ukrainian national team won 188 medals: 84 gold, 58 silver and 46 bronze ones.
Mykhailo Drobotenko, a specialist of the department of social and humanitarian activities and monitoring at the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs is among the champions. He won 1 silver and 5 gold medals.
In 2022, being a serviceman of the 57th separate motorized infantry brigade he lost his both legs near Severodonetsk, the Luhansk region. Today, he shares his experience with young people and conducts active work with war veterans in the field of adaptive sports. Using the University’s sports base, Mykhailo helps the military to adapt to new living conditions, find friends and the support of society by his example.
