The All-Ukrainian scientific and discussion platform “Challenges of Tolerance in the Context of Russian Military Aggression” was held at the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs.
The goal was to emphasize tolerance and non-discrimination as the most important values of a modern polyphonic and pluralistic society, the principle of unity in diversity; to analyze the conflicts and limits of tolerance in the context of Russian military aggression.
The moderator was Doctor of Philosophy, Professor Tetiana Kononenko.
The scientific and discussion platform was opened by Yaroslav Chernonkov, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Training Specialists for Pre-trial Investigation Units: „The Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs is a higher education institution that adheres to European values. Tolerance helps to reduce barriers to communication, promotes openness and interaction between participants in the educational process.”
The scientific event was attended by over 100 representatives from 35 institutions, including: Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs; Volodymyr Vynnychenko Central Ukrainian State University; Ukrainian State Flight Academy; Communal institution „Kirovohrad Regional In-Service Teacher Training Institute named after Vasyl Sukhomlynskyi”; Mariupol Center for Primary Professional Training „Police Academy” of the DonSUIA; Kropyvnytskyi City Center for Comprehensive Rehabilitation and Social Services for Persons with Disabilities of Kropyvnytskyi City Council; Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Kirovohrad.
The participants discussed topical issues related to the limits of tolerance in times of war, ensuring human rights and freedoms during martial law, challenges for Ukrainian society and ways to overcome them.
Anzhela Helbak, Head of the Department of Social and Humanitarian Disciplines of the DonSUIA, noted that the scientific and discussion platform was in line with the university’s mission, which interprets tolerance as an axiological basis for professional culture.
