The Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs cadets participated in the webinar “Preventing the distribution of firearms” from the European Union Advisory Mission.
The speaker of the event, Christian Lipmann, spoke about the illegal trafficking of firearms, particularly in areas of armed conflict.
Using the example of Africa, he demonstrated how the presence of firearms in one region can lead to illegal trade or transportation to other territories, especially after the end of the conflict. This very fact can pose a threat to EU countries and the international community.
Christian Lippman noted that supporting Ukraine in protecting its national sovereignty and territorial integrity from Russian aggression is a political priority and a strategic necessity of the EU and its member states.
Particular attention was paid to the EU Directive on combating the illegal trafficking of firearms for 2020-2025, namely: the introduction of measures aimed at its prevention in the short, medium and long term.
During the event, cadets asked questions and took part in the discussion. The webinar raised the level of awareness of the specified topic.
