The Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs hosted a meeting of cadets with war veterans Yevhen Serhiienko, Yevhen Saienko and the combatants who won the Strong Spirit Games, Mykhailo Drobotenko, Andrii Kazarin and Mykola Ivko. The strongmen won the right to represent our country as part of the national team at the Arnold Classic Europe international sports competition to be held this year in Madrid (Spain).
The event was also attended by Oleksii Chyzh, a current police officer of the Special Operations Battalion “Aeneas” of the united assault brigade of the National Police of Ukraine “Liut”; Oleksandr Lashyn, a multiple Ukrainian and world record holder in strongman, six-time winner of the “Strongest Man in Ukraine” competition, Vice President of the Strongman Federation of Ukraine; and Mykola Osychenko, President of Mariupol TV and a blogger.
The veterans told their stories of participation in combat operations: how they were wounded and how sports became the social elevator that enabled them to represent Ukraine in international competitions. They emphasized that physical education helped them to survive the difficult times of rehabilitation after being wounded.
After the meeting, the guests held a training session for cadets-athletes in a specially equipped gym at the university.
