On October 25, representatives of the International Red Cross Committee paid a working visit to the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs, among them a- regional delegate on work with the police and security agencies Halit Bulanikli, an advisor on work with the police and security agencies Dmytro Dvornyk, a delegate on work with law enforcement and security agencies Maxym Gutov and an assistant of the department of program management for cooperation with human rights bodies Vadym Ksheminskyi.
During the meeting, representatives of the ICRC and the leadership of the DonSUIA identified directions for further cooperation in improving educational and scientific processes in higher educational institutions.
“This is a very important meeting for our University because it is the evidence that we are interested in each other in terms of partnership and will continue moving in the common direction,” noted DonSUIA Rector Serhii Vitvitskyi.
The guests held a seminar on International Humanitarian Law and International Rules and Standards of Police Activity for the students.
The mandate and activities of the International Committee of the Red Cross, its status, functions, history of the organization, conditions of the Geneva Conventions, prospects for the use of force in the law enforcement paradigm, and international humanitarian law were discussed by the speakers and the cadets.
Special attention was paid to the work of the Red Cross in places of active hostilities. DonSUIA thanks the International Committee of the Red Cross for their high evaluation of the staff’s work and for the prospects of future cooperation.
