Students of the Mariupol Center for Primary Professional Training “Police Academy” of the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs took part in the “Modern Relaxation Methods” training.
Oleksandra Kharchenko, a specialist of the psychological support unit of the DonSUIA personnel support department, told the police officers about the mechanisms of stress and offered effective methods of overcoming it. Special attention was paid to the issues of self-help in extreme conditions.
The training participants learned to recognize the first signs of stress, to use self-regulation techniques and apply practical exercises to quickly restore the emotional state. They also worked out action algorithms that help keep calm and think rationally in difficult situations.
“It is important for law enforcement officers to have the skills of psychological self-help and relaxation, because their work is associated with constant emotional stress, which affects decision-making,” said Oleksandra Kharchenko.
The meeting took place in the psychological relief room of the DonSUIA, which was equipped with the assistance of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Ukraine.
