At the invitation of head of the Main Office of the National Police in the Kirovohrad region, police colonel Roman Koziakov, representatives of the scientific and pedagogical staff of the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs and the “Police Academy” MCPPP took part in an online meeting with staffers of the Police and Border Guard Department of the Republic of Estonia.
The police officers of the Kirovohrad region presented to foreign partners their experience of the units of the main inspection and human rights observance of the National Police of Ukraine. According to head of the Main Inspection department of the MONP in the Kirovohrad Region, police lieutenant colonel Iryna Sheremet, due to the reforms that took place in 2021, we managed to build an efficient police structure with new philosophy of activity, which consists in supporting and monitoring the activities of police units. She also dwelt on: the implementation of measures aimed at preventing violations of official discipline committed by police officers; inspection and control of police units official activities; conducting official investigations and monitoring based on information about the commission of disciplinary offenses by police officers; consideration of appeals about illegal actions of police officers.
“The tasks of the service is not only implementation of control functions, but also the study of the positive experience of the territorial police bodies activities, dissemination of positive law enforcement practices of police activity, development of effective proposals and recommendations to increase the efficiency of providing police services,” Iryna Sheremet emphasized.
Representatives of the Police and Border Guard Department of the Republic of Estonia presented to the event participants their achievements regarding prevention and countermeasures of violence in intimate relationships, which is defined as domestic violence in Ukrainian legislation. The foreign experts spoke about the peculiarities of the forms and methods of the Estonian police work in this area in particular, as well as approaches to providing services for victims, measures to influence offenders in order to correct their behavior.
The meeting took place in the form of an open discussion, whose participants discussed the presented police practices and exchanged their opinions.
