To mark the 64th anniversary of the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs, a series of bilingual training courses on responding to cybercrimes and working with electronic evidence were held for cadets of the faculties of training specialists for pre-trial investigation units and training specialists for criminal police units.
This is the first training in Ukraine conducted in English and Ukrainian, adapted specially for law enforcement officers.
The goal of the project is to develop skills in rapid response to cyber incidents, effective work with digital evidence, conducting searches and extraction of electronic information carriers in compliance with procedural norms.
The DonSUIA rector Serhii Vitvitskyi, congratulated the higher education seekers on the successful completion of their studies.
«Cybercrime is a challenge of today, and our specialists must be one step ahead, combining practical skills with international experience. I would like to specially emphasize the importance of professional English knowledge, which facilitates cooperation with international partners and effective counteraction to global cyber threats».
Police officers mastered methods for identifying suspects on the Internet, learned about the peculiarities of data storage, and practiced scenarios for searching and extracting digital evidence in real-world conditions.
The trainings were conducted by certified experts – dean of the faculty of training specialists for pre-trial investigation units Olha Kovaliova and an associate professor of the department of operational and investigative activities and information security Olha Haborets, who underwent specialized training according the European Council program (Training of Trainers – First Responder for Law Enforcement Officers on Cybercrime and Electronic Evidence).
This initiative has upgraded the level of training of future specialists and established the DonSUIA as an innovative leader in the formation of modern approaches to combating cybercrime. The University plans to continue developing such programs, integrating the best international practices into the educational process.
