Improving the emotional state and supporting the mental health of internally displaced youth is the goal of the event conducted by the DonSUIA “Mental Health Space” team within the UPSHIFT project.
“It is important that a center for IDP has been created on the basis of the University in Kryvyi Rih. There young people will help IDPs who faced the same problems they once faced themselves. Many reflections, quests and brainstorms are planned. All this is necessary for us to overcome the consequences of difficult situations”, commented the mentor of the UPSHIFT program in the Dnipropetrovsk region, Iryna Honcharuk, who also joined the event.
“Young people learned about the project from social networks and submitted an application to be selected. The University supported the implementation of the idea, helped the cadets to go to the Boot Camp in Dnipro. Now the institution provides premises where trainings within the project will be held in the future. The purpose of the activities is forming the mental health of IDPs, including teenagers and young people,” explained Oleksii Tsurkan, dean of the faculty of training specialist for the National police units.
At the beginning of the training, the cadets introduced their team, got acquainted with the participants, and explained the rules of the event.
Next, those present performed the tasks aimed at developing creativity, team spirit and interaction with each other. The participants opened up themselves and colleagues in a different way, learned to solve problems and relax. The event ended with a general reflection, during which young people shared their impressions of the event.
