Zhora Vardanian and Bohdan Gurenko, first-year students of the faculty of training specialists for the pre-trial investigation units of the DonSUIA, 2nd and 3rd year cadets Oleksandr Kovalenko and Andrii Rudkovskyi took part in winter certification in kiokushinkai karate. Twice a year athletes test themselves for strength and endurance in order to increase KYU ranks and receive a higher-level belt by doing long-distance running, plunging into icy water, performing wrestling techniques, having long duels.
Zhora, Bohdan and Oleksandr took part in the certification in stages, and for Andrii, the exam lasted more than 6 hours. Last year, the athlete won the title of the European champion and had to confirm a high professional level. After the main stage, the cadet performed a number of strength exercises and met in a duel with titled opponents. Andrii demonstrated excellent physical and emotional preparation and passed the standard for the highest student grade – 1st KYU. The karateka received a brown belt with a ribbon. This is the last step to the black belt. Volodymyr Halimskyi, assistant professor of the department of special physical and pre-medical training of the faculty of training specialists for the criminal police units of the DonSUIA, took the exams.
