The DonSUIA 4th year cadets of the faculty of training specialists for pre-trial investigation units learned about practical aspects of implementing modern methods of interviewing and interrogating children in contact with law.
Senior inspector for special assignments of the juvenile prevention department Khrystyna Melnyk took the cadets on an excursion to the Main Office of the National Police in the Kirovohrad Region. She spoke about the purpose of the “Green Room”, the specifics of questioning methods in conditions that prevent retraumatization of a child’s psyche and the negative impact of the environment.
During the meeting, organizational and legal issues of interaction with pre-trial investigation bodies and prosecutors were also discussed. Special attention was focused on the need to take into account the best interests of a child in all actions and decisions regarding him/her, which meets international standards in the field of child-friendly justice.
The event was held within the educational course “Criminal Proceedings with Minor’s Participation” on the initiative of the department of criminal procedure and forensics with the assistance of Serhii Vovkohon, head of the juvenile prevention sector of the MONP in the Kirovohrad Region.
