For three months, first year master’s students of the faculty of training specialists for pre-trial investigation units were having an internship at the territorial (interregional) bodies of the National Police in the city of Kyiv and the regions of Ukraine. The final stage of the internship was his defense.
Besides testing theoretical knowledge, the defense of educational practice included a practical stage in the form of a police quest. According to the scenario, in appliance with the expanded educational plots of committed criminal offenses, higher education seekers performed practical tasks, which consisted of testing the ability to conduct separate investigative (search) actions and planning a pre-trial investigation as a whole. The level of the trainees’ practical skills was assessed by the members of the commission, which included scientific and pedagogical staff of the Department of Criminal Procedure and Forensics, Faculty of Training Specialist for Pretrial Investigation Units and representatives of practical units.
Based on his own practical experience in the investigation of a wide range of criminal offences, the deputy head of the department for the investigation of especially serious crimes of the ID HONP in the Kirovohrad Region, Volodymyr Bierkov, drew the attention of higher education seekers to the importance of mastering skills in practical application of the norms of criminal and criminal procedural law, as well as application of forensic knowledge. During the internship, higher education seekers demonstrated a high level of theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
