The training was developed by specialists of the Psychological Support Unit of the Personnel Department based on the training program of Israel Trauma and Resilience Center (Natal). The event is held within the framework of the National Program of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support initiated by the First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska. The training program is aimed at implementing the acquired experience in the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Within its limits, first-year cadets worked out the OPORA model in pairs. Each training participant tried to support his friend in a difficult situation, to activate his empathic skills. Also, the students recollected their personal experiences regarding the beginning of hostilities in the country. Thereby they supported each other.
“The training exercises are designed to level the feeling of crisis, consolidate the psychological resources of the individual and, in the form of a game start the processes of post-crisis growth. This is a new and effective means of working with people who have experienced a psychological trauma,” commented the training psychologist Oleksandr Azarenkov.
DonSUIA thanks Olena Zelenska, colleagues from Israel and specialists of the Personnel Department for the provided experience!
