At the Odessa State University of Internal Affairs, head of the department of social and humanitarian disciplines of the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs, candidate of psychological sciences Anzhela Helbak made a report for the participants of a scientific and practical conference “Psychology of a police officer’s personal development in his/her professional activities during martial law” .
In her speech on “Actual trends in training students of the second (master’s) higher education level in specialty 053 “Psychology” (Clinical and rehabilitation psychology)”, she noted that, taking into account the challenges of today regarding maintenance and restoration of mental health of the Ukrainians in war and post-war times, the DonSUIA developed the concept of an educational and professional program “Clinical and rehabilitation psychology” specialty 053 “Psychology” for the second (master’s) higher education level.
The development of clinical and rehabilitation psychology fully meets the needs of our society. Currently, there is an urgent need for active intervention of an experienced clinical psychologist, a rehabilitation psychologist for the sake of physiological and psychological recovery of an individual and his/her return to a socially useful life. The problems of clinical psychology and psychological rehabilitation are becoming more and more relevant in the field of psychological support for the staffers of a security and defense sector of Ukraine, who serve right in extreme and crisis conditions.
The content and structure of the educational program was developed considering the experience of European institutions: SWPS University (the University of Humanities and Psychology) (the Republic of Poland), the Center for Veterans of Foreign Missions of the Ministry of Defense of Poland and domestic higher education institutions: Ukrainian Catholic University, the Prykarpattia National University named after Vasyl Stefanyk, the Uzhhorod National University. A number of consultations were also held with stakeholders who have direct practical experience of a person’s psychological and physical assistance and support.
The psychological support of war veterans and internally displaced persons of the community is provided within the framework of the project “Support of the displaced Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs” with the assistance of the European Union (No. 4353-01).
