Artur Andriiashevskyi, Stanislav Nazarenko and Ivan Hlushko, 4th year students of the faculty of Law and Law Enforcement Training, came up with the idea of creating an educational space ChessHub (“Chess Club”) at the University, not only for higher education seekers of the DonSUIA, but also for other educational institutions. The initiated project was implemented by the team within the framework of the UPSHIFT program from UNICEF and with the support of the University administration.
“We saw various sports spaces, playgrounds in other cities, participated in sports events where young people not only hold competitions and tournaments, but also have the opportunity of informal communication in a friendly circle,” commented Artur Andriiashevskyi. – The goal of the ChessHub team is for more young people to play chess and enjoy communication. We created this space for the intellectual development of young people, with the aim of improving physical and mental training and diversifying events during the academic year.”
To implement the project, the students conducted a survey of schoolchildren in the city of Kryvyi Rih and found out that many of them are interested in additional communication with their peers, acquiring chess skills. Having understood the rules, teenagers will be able to get maximum pleasure, studying the beauty of different games and moves.
On December, 22, the space where visitors can communicate and share their chess experience and skills, learn and hold chess tournaments started its work. University students were the first to sit down at the chessboard.
“The game has a harmonious effect on a person, promotes the development of logical thinking and intuition. A person who solves chess problems normalizes the work of the nervous system, trains memory, and develops concentration,” said student Nadiia Vorobiova.
The ChessHub team invites everyone to join classes and chess tournaments.
