Andrii Panchenko, a third-year cadet of the faculty of training specialists for criminal police units of the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs, showed true courage and determination while undergoing his internship at the criminal investigation department of the Main Office of the National Police in the Zaporizhzhia region.
While performing his official duty, he, together with an experienced police operative, detained an armed criminal who had been wanted for arms trafficking.
To lure the suspect into the car, the police officers asked him to indicate the route and accompany them. When the suspect got into the car, they introduced themselves. The criminal tried to reached for his pocket, where he had a grenade, but Andrii caught his hand and neutralized the threat.
Head of the MONP in the Zaporizhzhia Region, police general of the third rank Artem Kysko, highly appreciated the professionalism and courage of the DonSUIA cadet and presented him with a certificate of gratitude for his courage: “The cadet’s instant reaction saved his life and the life of his partner. This gratitude is a recognition of courage and professionalism, and Andrii Panchenko’s behavior is an example of determination and courage of a true police officer.”
The DonSUIA is proud of its higher education seeker, and wishes him success in passing his final exams and professional growth!
