As part of the nationwide Road Safety Week, an international scientific and practical conference “Development of Sustainable Mobility: Global and Local Solutions” was held at the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs.
The co-organizers were the European Union Advisory Mission in Ukraine, the State Transport Safety Service of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Research Institute of Transport Medicine of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the Council of Young Scientists under the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine with the support of the International Charitable Fund for Assistance to Victims of Road Accidents.
The event was opened by the DonSUIA rector Serhii Vitvitskyi: “In conditions of a full-scale war, the development of sustainable transport in Ukraine acquires particular relevance, because the victory over the aggressor must be combined with achieving strategic objectives of balanced transport, including improvement of road traffic safety; availability of services and infrastructure for the movement of people and goods; efficient use of common public space and much more.”
Oleksandr Tarasenko, director of the Department of Education, Science and Sports of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, addressed the participants of the conference with a welcome speech.
The following wished the scientists fruitful work: Mykola Rudyk, head of the Main Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine; Vasyl Briantsev, vice president of the International Charitable Fund for Assistance to Victims of Road Accidents; head of the Main Office of the National Police in the Kirovohrad region, Roman Koziakov; deputy head of the department – head of the traffic safety unit of the traffic safety department of the Patrol Police Department Oleg Solovei; head of the Patrol Police unit in the Kirovohrad region of the Patrol Police Department, Anton Tsiutsiura; senior adviser on law enforcement issues of the European Union Advisory Mission in Ukraine Flemming Kim Lundberg; Anastasiia Simakhova, first deputy head of the Council of Young Scientists under the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
The scientists and practitioners discussed the following issues : reconsideration of mobility in urban and intercity transportation; the roles of public administration bodies in the balanced transport system; creating safe conditions for sustainable mobility in the process of rebuilding Ukraine’s destroyed infrastructure; reforming national legislation of European countries in the field of traffic safety; environmental safety in the system of sustainable mobility.
They also raised the issues of preserving the life and health of road users; the role of the law enforcement and judicial system in the formation of safe mobility; the development of digital technologies to ensure mobility automation and intelligent traffic management; compliance with the principles of gender equality in the implementation of the rights and duties in the transport sector; challenges of inclusiveness in the development of sustainable urban mobility, etc.
