Students of the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs, who specialize in “Legal Psychology” took part in the seminar “Psychotrauma and disorders caused by it”.
The event was held by a practicing psychologist, a family counselor, a psychotherapist in positive psychotherapy, a member of Ukrainian Union of Psychotherapists, World association of positive and transcultural psychotherapy, a leading psychologist of Social and Psychological Support Service of the Kropyvnytsky Center for Social Services Oksana Klymenchenko.
“Every person’s life can be traumatized by the events that are difficult to predict and that according to their psychological loading significantly exceed the body’s resources necessary for their experience. Unexpressed, terminated and accumulated tension in the body and psyche is pushed out into the unconscious, begins to live its own life and affect a person as a mental trauma,” said Oksana Klymenchenko.
Students learned about the nature of trauma, the challenges faced by professionals who work with victims. During the seminar, the concept of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and the BASIC ph model in the work of a psychologist were considered.
