The participants of the training “Anti-discrimination legislation, tolerance and principles of barrier-free communication: theory and practice” organized for the staffers of the MONP in Kirovohrad region, discussed the main norms and principles of anti-discrimination legislation at the national and international levels, tolerance and equality in the work of the Ministry of Internal Affairs staffers, barrier-free communication as a state policy.
The head of the Kirovohrad regional organization of invalids of the “Union of invalids’organizations of Ukraine” Serhii Podorozhnii and the head of the Kirovohrad regional organization of the Ukrainian Society of the Deaf Maryna Maistrenko joined the event.
On behalf of the rector of the DonSUIA Serhii Vitvitskyi, the guests were greeted by the first vice-rector Yehor Nazymko. He wished everyone fruitful work and informed about the gains regarding tolerant and barrier-free communication at the University. One of them is establishing the first inclusive driving school in Kropyvnytskyi for training and retraining people with disabilities on the basis of the DonSUIA.
“Any person with a disability has the right to be a full member of society. There is an inclusive driving school at the University, which provides services to low mobility groups of population, the military in particular. Considering the challenges they face after returning from the front line, we help them obtain the category B driver’s license, restore or acquire the skills of driving a manual car. It is also significant that our meeting is being held at the Center of International Humanitarian Law of the DonSUIA, which was opened with the assistance of the International Committee of the Red Cross. I hope that the knowledge and skills acquired during the training will be used by you during your service,” noted Yehor Nazymko.
Presentations were made by the head of the DonSUIA scientific research laboratory of public security of the communities Andrii Zakharchenko, associate professors of the department of operational and investigative activity and information security at the faculty of training specialists for the criminal police units of the DonSUIA, Olga Lungol and Olga Gaborets.
Serhii Podorozhnii and Maryna Maistrenko familiarized the police officers with practical aspects of barrier-free communication. They provided recommendations for using relevant online resources.
The participants of the training noted that understanding and application of anti-discrimination principles, the ability for barrier-free communication become relevant in today’s difficult conditions, and police officers play an important role in the process of establishing a just and tolerant society.
Those present exchanged their views on further measures and initiatives in the field of anti-discrimination and equality.
