The final stage of a two-day emergency communications training, organized by specialists from the Strategic Communications Department of the “Partnership for a Resilient Ukraine (PFRU)” program, was held at the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs.
The “Partnership for a Resilient Ukraine” program, funded by the governments of the United Kingdom, Estonia, Canada, Norway, Finland, Switzerland, and Sweden, aims to strengthen Ukraine’s resilience and develop the professional competencies of security sector representatives.
During their practical session, the participants gained skills in anticipating emergency situations, developing clear and understandable communication messages for public safety, applying the COM-B model to influence citizens’ behavior, identifying target audience and effective communication channels, as well as establishing partnerships with community leaders to increase trust in information and law enforcement activities.
The training became an important step in strengthening the capacity of community police officers to operate effectively in extreme conditions, where speed, accuracy, and empathy in communication are crucial.
After completing the training, the participants underwent an assessment during which the results were summed up, achievements and areas for further improvement were identified.
Cooperation with the PFRU program will continue – specialists from the Strategic Communications Department will continue to mentor community police officers to ensure sustainable integration of new approaches into their daily work. This will allow turning the acquired knowledge into an effective tool for strengthening trust and securityty in communities.
