A regular meeting of a discussion club on the topic «The use of OSINT technologies in criminal investigations» has been held at the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs.
A European Union Advisory Mission representative, adviser/trainer on criminal investigations Desiree Hufnagel (Austria) shared her practical experience of using OSINT technologies in the course of criminal cases investigation. She also presented her own vision of professional use of different browsers, VPNs, encrypted emails, various search engines and programs.
The DonSUIA higher education seekers together with the speaker discussed the concept, methodology, technology of obtaining and using military, political, economic and other information from open sources, without violating legal aspects.
In the course of a constructive discussion, they identified common characteristics, details, laws, differences in the use of these technologies in Ukraine and abroad.
«In Ukraine, the use of OSINT technologies has recently reached a new qualitative level as compared to previous years», admitted Desiree Hufnagel.
The event was organized by the lecturers of the DonSUIA foreign languages department in a language laboratory equipped with the financial assistance of the European Union within the framework of the project «Support of the relocated Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs».
