The Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs confirmed its strategic interest in further strengthening its partnership with the European Union Advisory Mission to Ukraine (EUAM Ukraine). The cooperation contributes to modernization of police education and implementation of community policing – a model of police work based on trust, cooperation, and interaction with citizens.
During the online meeting head of the University, police colonel Serhii Vitvitskyi, thanked the mission experts for their long-term support, professionalism, and assistance in developing modern educational practices. Special gratitude to Mr. Ralph Hiegedahl, with whose assistance it was possible to create an effective platform for training future police officers.
The most important result of this fruitful collaboration was the development and implementation of the Community Curriculum, a specialized training module. Its goal is to give cadets the necessary skills to work in modern conditions and teach them to communicate effectively and build partnerships with citizens.
Today, the DonSUIA employs eight certified community policing trainers, trained under EUAM programs, who integrate international practices into the training process, making the cadets training in line with European standards.
The University community is convinced that continuing the partnership with EUAM Ukraine will contribute to the formation of a new face of Ukrainian police and strengthen the security of communities throughout the country.
