To the Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation and the Day of Victory over Nazism in World War II, the final meeting of the Bookworms Club took place in the general library of the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs. It was held in the form of a library laboratory of strategic thinking «Map of Memory»: from the lessons of the past to the strategy of victory» based on the book «MAP» by Andrii Zelinskyi.
The speakers of the event – librarians Antonina Harkusha, Iryna Konieva and Tetiana Zavalei – emphasized the symbolism of May 8 as the Day of Remembrance, mourning and gratitude to the fighters against Nazism, as well as the significance of the red poppy as an international symbol of honoring the victims of war and hope for peace.
The participants watched video materials about World War II, which helped to better understand the scale of the tragedy and the importance of historical lessons for contemporary struggle of Ukraine.
The event continued with the presentation of the book «MAP» by Andrii Zelinskyi, which revealed philosophical understanding of war as a space of personal choice, responsibility, dignity and the search for inner guidelines. Members of the Reading Club discussed the book, focusing on the themes of self-knowledge, interaction with society and the impact of daily decisions on a person’s life path.
The culmination of the meeting was a creative master class «Poppies of Memory», during which those present created handmade poppy flowers – symbols of courage and gratitude, which were later combined into a joint composition «Map of Memory of Ukraine».
