As part of the Joint Actions Day «How are you?» Services: Universities and Service Providers – from Theory to Practice”, the V. Vynnychenko Central Ukrainian State University hosted scientists, practitioners, and students to discuss current challenges in the psychological sphere in wartime.
At the event, the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs was represented by Candidate of Psychological Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Psychology, Sociology and Pedagogy Nataliia Tsumareva together with her students.
The meeting was opened by Deputy Head of the Kirovohrad Regional Military Administration Kateryna Koltunova, who stressed on the rapid growth of mental disorders among the population and the importance of supporting children with anxiety and regressive behavior.
After the official opening, the participants were introduced to the key priorities of work in the field of mental health, outlined by the regional coordinator of the All-Ukrainian Mental Health Program, Oleksandr Kryshko: early detection of disorders, specialized assistance to military personnel and families of the perished, work of psychologists at the sites of shelling, and support for rescuers.
During the meeting, representatives of the DonSUIA presented an educational program with practical trainings for instructing psychologists as well as new disciplines: «Military Psychology», «Extreme and Crisis Psychology», «Prevention and Overcoming Domestic Violence».
As a result, those present emphasized the importance of combining theory and practice, active participation of students in scientific and practical work, and close cooperation between universities, public organizations, and medical services to strengthen the regional system of mental health and psychological well-being of the population, especially in times of war.
