On the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, the general library of the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs hosted a library science hub «Women Shaping the Science of the Future».
The event brought together representatives of different generations of female researchers and became a platform for discussing the role of women in modern academic environment.
Rector Assistant Olha Kovaleva and Rector Assistant for Gender Issues Kateryna Voievoda presented the University’s strategic approaches to implementing the principles of equality in educational and scientific processes. Academic Secretary of the Academic Council Secretariat Olha Kuzmenko emphasized the responsibility of the University in creating a comfortable and safe environment for scientific research. Acting Head of the Library Yulia Bahlay presented the library as a modern inclusive space for scientific communication.
Yulia Danylevska, Head of the Department of Postgraduate (Adjunct) Studies and Doctoral Studies, spoke about the path of women in science – from master’s to doctoral studies. She focused on the opportunities for professional growth and the importance of adhering to the principles of academic integrity. In her turn, head of the research laboratory on the problems of preventing criminal offenses of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Training Specialists for Criminal Police Units named after E.O. Didorenko, Tetiana Ponomareva, shared her vision on the formation of the scientific career of young researchers.

Candidates for a Doctor of Philosophy degree in the educational and scientific programs «Law» and «Law Enforcement Activities», students and cadets – representatives of the Scientific Society, frankly spoke about their own challenges on the way to their first independent scientific projects.

The participants completed the exercise «Modern Woman – Scientist», where they identified the main features of a successful researcher – professionalism, responsibility, leadership, creativity, and during an interactive session «Scientific Foresight», they shared their scientific plans and outlined steps for professional growth.
