In the city of Dnipro, Assistant Rector for Work with Veterans of the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs Anton Doroshenko took part in a round table, which was dedicated to the implementation of veteran policy in higher education institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. The event brought together representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, educational institutions, and specialized units.
The discussion was joined by State Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Inna Yashchuk, Director of the Department of Education, Science and Sports of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Oleksandr Tarasenko, and Advisor to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine on Veteran Policy Dmytro Finashyn.
Inna Yashchuk presented the key results of the ministry’s activities in the field of veteran policy. According to her information, about 30 thousand potential jobs have already been created in the MIA system, and over a thousand veterans have been successfully employed. At the same time, more than 1,000 children of Ukraine’s defenders – those killed, captured, and wounded – study at the lyceums of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the veterans themselves have preferential conditions for entering higher education institutions.
Advisor to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine on Veteran Policy Dmytro Finashyn added that education is one of the key tools for returning veterans to civilian life, opening up new opportunities for their professional fulfillment and personal development.
The participants discussed the issues of medical and psychological rehabilitation of veterans. In particular, they discussed the work of seven rehabilitation centers that are already operating in Ukraine, creation of a modern prosthetics center, as well as available support tools – the information portal «MIA: Your Support» and the project «I’m in the Team» are aimed at comprehensive assistance and support for veterans and their family members.
Participation of the DonSUIA representatives in such events once again confirms the institution’s consistent position on supporting veterans, developing a barrier-free educational environment, and implementing effective mechanisms for their integration into the student community and the society as a whole.
