The Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs continues to expand international cooperation and integrate into the European educational space. In the field of this activity, cadets and students of the University joined the international webinar «Liability for data protection violations», organized by Dr. Olha Tylchyk from the University of Barcelona.
The webinar speaker was Dr. Rosa M. García Teruel, Associate Professor of Civil Law at the University of Barcelona. During her lecture, she spoke about key aspects of legal liability for violations of personal data protection legislation, as well as modern approaches to law enforcement in the European legal space.
The lecturer paid special attention to the specifics of implementing the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The participants of the meeting were introduced to practical mechanisms for ensuring compliance in organizations, given examples of judicial practice, and typical mistakes that are most often made when working with personal data.
The discussion also combined the theoretical foundations of European regulation with practical challenges of the digital age. It addressed the problems faced by law enforcement agencies, government bodies and the private sector in ensuring an adequate level of data protection.
