As part of implementing the National Strategy for Creating a Barrier-Free Space in Ukraine for the Period Until 2030, the DonSUIA staffers joined viewing the educational serial “Speaking Simply About the Complex.” The serial was created with the support of the Republic of Korea Government at the initiative of the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine in cooperation with the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine for the Diia.Osvita. platform.
Tetiana Lomakina, the President of Ukraine advisor and commissioner on barrier-free issues, and Lesia Khemraieva, head of the Department on barrier-free policy of the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine, UNDP Ukraine Accessibility and Inclusion Project Coordinator Olena Ivanova, UNDP Ukraine Communication Policy Officer Tetiana Palamar, and Accessibility and Inclusion Specialist Maryna Lebid joined the project as experts.
While watching the videos, the participants learned how to create simple and understandable texts: write in a way that makes the content understandable from the first reading, avoid complex wording without losing the meaning, and structure information correctly. Visual aspects of design were also considered: contrast, fonts, colors, icons, heading formatting, and the importance of minimalism in design.
After completing the educational serial, the DonSUIA staffers passed the final testing and received corresponding certificates. This learning format not only deepens understanding of the principles of barrier-free communication, but also contributes to the formation of an inclusive environment where information is accessible and understandable to everyone – regardless of age, experience, or the level of education.
