The 2nd International Scientific and Practical Internet Conference “Actual Aspects of STEAM Education Development in the Conditions of European Integration” was held in the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs to the 63-d anniversary of the higher education institution’s foundation.
Its purpose is to discuss topical issues of introducing STEAM technologies into the educational process of educational institutions of different levels and profiles.
The event was opened by rector of the DonSUIA Serhii Vitvitskyi: “One of the main challenges of today is training highly qualified and competitive professionals who have the skills of scientific thinking and know how to use the latest technologies. Implementation of the set tasks is possible only on condition of introducing perspective directions of modern education development, which undoubtedly includes the internationally recognized STEAM technologies.”
Welcome speeches were delivered by: Oleksandr Stryzhak, deputy director for scientific work of the National Center “Small Academy of Sciences of Ukraine”; rector of the Higher School of Information Systems Management (Latvia) Denys Diakon; leading researcher of the department of information and didactic modeling of the National University of Ukraine NC “SASU”, president of the International Association of Out-of-school Education, head of the department of out-of-school education of Mykhailo Drahomanov Ukrainian State University, head of the Public Council at the State Education Quality Service of Ukraine, head of the Expert Commission on Out-of-school Education of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Ukraine Olena Bykovska; Olga Pinchuk, deputy director for scientific and experimental work of the Institute of Digitalization of Education at the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Mykola Golovko, deputy director for scientific work of the Institute of Pedagogy of the NAPS of Ukraine; Andzhei Yezhy Smoliarzh, professor of the department of electronics and information technologies of the Lublin University of Technology (Poland); President of the Higher School of Information Systems Management (ISMA) Olga Vardenkhova; Liliia Klochek, vice-rector for scientific work of the V. Vynnychenko Central Ukrainian State University; Mykhailo Vikhliaiev, director of the Center for Ukrainian-European Scientific Cooperation; leader of Zezhinky movement in the Kirovohrad region, head of the SC on the issues of economic development, industry, entrepreneurship, investments and regulatory policy Anna Zarichna.
More than 374 scientists and educators from 193 educational and scientific institutions of Ukraine of different levels and profiles took part in the conference, as well as leading scientists from the University of Florida (USA), the Opole University (Poland), the Higher School of Information Systems Management ISMA (Latvia), the Würzburg University of Applied Sciences – Schweinfurt (Germany), the Lublin Technical University (Poland).
Practitioners presented their own experience in solving problematic issues of the development and implementation of STEAM technologies, namely: world experience and perspectives of teaching academic disciplines in the context of STEAM education principles ; STEAM learning technologies in higher education institutions; theoretical and methodological aspects of forming soft skills in the process of training students in educational institutions; the use of educational platforms for the organization of international project-research STEAM activities; communication in the field of gender orientation in the context of STEAM education; ensuring the quality of higher education in the context of global prospects for the formation of an innovative European space.
The international conference was characterized by lively discussions at the sectional meetings, as well as by outlining further directions of work of leading scientists, educators, and education seekers in accordance with today’s requirements.
