Christmas at the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs became truly special – it was there that the second record in Ukraine was set with the participation of veterans of the Russian-Ukrainian war.

The Department of Special Physical Training of the DonSUIA together with the «Safari» assault regiment of the «Liut» separate assault brigade, the youth and sports departments of the Kropyvnytskyi City Council, the Kirovohrad Regional Military Administration, as well as the Ukrainian Strongmen Federation, joined forces for an important goal – supporting the defenders of Ukraine.

At the beginning of the event, on behalf of the University rector Serhii Vitvitskyi, the athletes were congratulated by Valentyn Tulinov, deputy director of the E. O. Didorenko Educational and Scientific Institute for Training Specialists for Criminal Police Units. He wished the participants new sporting achievements, and further development on the basis of the DonSUIA, which has become a space of new opportunities for many of them.

22 war veterans joined forces to perform a 60-minute multi-rep bench press. The participants worked on four platforms simultaneously: with barbells weighing 20, 50, 75, and 100 kg, for a total tonnage of about 166 tons.
This result was officially recorded in the «Book of Records of Ukraine in Power Sports» of the All-Ukrainian Powerlifters Association.
Most of the record holders had been preparing for the event directly at the University as part of the project of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine «Friendly Support». Training side by side with their comrades-in-arms became for them not only a sporting challenge, but also an important component of physical and psychological rehabilitation.
