A working meeting with representatives of the European Union Advisory Mission (EUAM) for Civilian Security Sector Reform in Ukraine was held at the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs.
The DonSUIA Rector Serhii Vitvitskyi and First Vice-Rector Olena Volobuieva welcomed the foreign delegates, emphasizing that in the context of modern security challenges, the development of sustainable international partnerships is strategically important for the implementation of European educational standards and high-quality training of future law enforcement officers.
The main focus of the parties was on the development of the concept of community policing. The participants analyzed the current state of implementation of relevant training programs, assessed pros and cons of training community police officers in conditions of a full-scale war, and outlined ways to improve educational components with the support of European experts.
The visit program also included a professional dialogue with the DonSUIA lecturers and instructors, who directly provide the course. The Mission representatives visited specialized training classes, where they familiarized with practical implementation of the educational process, and also spoke with police officers of the Educational Security Service (ESS). The foreign colleagues highly appreciated a comprehensive approach to the work of the ESS officers, which is built on the principles of trust, communication and prevention to create a safe educational environment.
The visit ended with a summary, during which the partners outlined specific prospects for further expert and advisory support to the University from the EUAM Ukraine.
