As part of implementation of the main project «Code of the Nation: Formation of Ukrainian Identity» an interactive online test «Language check-up» was held in the general library of the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs. It is part of the cycle of events «Ukrainian: Language as a Shield of the Nation».

The event was held on the occasion of the celebration of International Native Language Day and is aimed at popularizing the Ukrainian language as the basis of national identity, a tool for professional communication and spiritual unity of the society.
Librarian Tetiana Zavaleii spoke about the history of the holiday, emphasizing that language is a spiritual code of a nation, its memory and strength. She also presented a thematic book exhibition «Language – the DNA of a Nation».
The invited speaker, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Language Training Oksana Chornous, conducted an interactive test that checked attentiveness and linguistic intuition. The participants checked their Ukrainian language level: literacy, the knowledge of spelling norms, speech culture, and professional vocabulary, once again proving that studying Ukrainian is fashionable, prestigious, and necessary.

Those present concluded the meeting with the exercise «What do you associate your native language with?» and creating a poster «I love my native language». While working, the young people shared sincere thoughts and images, expressing respect for their native language.
The «Language Check-up» became not only a test of knowledge, but also an opportunity to realize the role of the Ukrainian language as a strategic resource of statehood and a key factor in the formation of a conscientious citizen.
