A thematic meeting “Gender and Equality in Ensuring Human Rights in the Modern World” was held at the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs. It emphasized the importance of democratic values for training future officers.
Co-chairman of the Kirovohrad Regional Unit of the All-Ukrainian Committee for the Defense of Human Rights, Vitalii Korotkov, joined the topic discussion with cadets and lecturers of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Training Specialists for Criminal Police Units named after E.O. Didorenko
During the meeting, the speaker focused on present key challenges: compliance with international human rights standards, ensuring gender equality in condition of war, combating discrimination, and preventing domestic violence. He specially emphasized the importance of respecting citizens’ rights in the daily work of a police officer.
Vitalii Korotkov shared his practical experience in human rights activities, giving real examples of monitoring the work of officials. The participants of the meeting also actively discussed the role of the police in ensuring justice and the European vector of Ukraine’s development.
Such meetings at the DonSUIA help to form not only professional skills, but also legal awareness of a new generation of law enforcement officers.
