The Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs hosted an athletics championship among cadets of higher education institutions under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, and higher military educational institutions under the jurisdiction of the State Border Service of Ukraine and the National Guard of Ukraine.
Teams of the National Academy of Internal Affairs, the Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs, the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs, the Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs, the Odesa State University of Internal Affairs, the Lviv State National Academy of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine named after Bohdan Khmelnytskyi, the National Academy of the National Guard of Ukraine, the National University of Civil Defense of Ukraine, the Lviv State University of Life Security and the Kyiv Institute of the National Guard of Ukraine, participated in the competition.
The event began with the performance of the National Anthem of Ukraine and honoring the memory of all who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of the country.
Rector of the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs, police colonel Serhii Vitvitskyi, addressed the athletes with a welcoming speech: “Today, the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs welcomes those who every day prove that strength, endurance, and the spirit of victory are integral features of Ukrainian youth. May these competitions be fair, exciting, and bring everyone not only medals, but also unforgettable impressions and new friends. Glory to Ukraine!
The following wished the boys and girls good starts and victories: head of the personnel department of the Main Office of the National Police in the Kirovohrad region, police colonel Oleksandr Horbenko; acting first deputy head of the Main Office of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Kirovohrad region, colonel of the Civil Defense Service Oleksandr Shpyliovyi; commander of the rifle battalion of military unit 3011 of the National Guard of Ukraine, lieutenant colonel Ivan Reut.
The competitions were held in individual and team standings at distances of 100, 400, 1000, 3000 meters, as well as in the combined relay of 100+200+300+400 meters.
Supported by the teammates, teachers and coaches, the athletes demonstrated endurance, strength of spirit and an indomitable thirst for victory:
1st place was won by Viktoriia Tyshlek and Vladyslav Nagornyi;
2nd place – by Daniil Polovyi and Karyna Tkach;
3rd place – by Elina Kosyk.
The DonSUIA team showed the best result in the relay race, and according to the results of the competition became a silver medalist of the championship.
The awards were presented to the winners by the DonSUIA rector Serhii Vitvitskyi.
