An art event, dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the Taras Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine was held at the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs as part of the regional cultural project «The Big Cellar».


The event, organized by the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Kirovohrad Regional Military Administration, was attended by Vice-Rector of the University Ruslan Vradii, First Deputy Chairman of the Kirovohrad Regional Council Yurii Semeniuk, Director of the Department of Culture and Tourism of the RMA Uliana Sokolenko, and Head of the National Union of Writers of Ukraine Nadiia Harmazyi, Director of the Central Ukrainian Regional Museum of Local Lore Borys Shevchenko, as well as representatives of the Kirovograd Academic Regional Ukrainian Music and Drama Theater named after M. L. Kropyvnytskyi.

The program was dedicated to the interpretation of the poem «The Big Cellar» by Taras Shevchenko as a symbolic work about historical memory, national dignity and responsibility for the future of the state. The participants listened to presentations made by cultural figures and writers, watched theatrical fragments performed by professional actors and joined a thematic discussion on the significance of Kobzar’s work for the formation of the national identity of youth.

At the end of the event, Ruslan Vradii thanked the organizers and actors for conducting the event and emphasized the importance of implementing such cultural and educational initiatives for the national-patriotic education of youth, the formation of civic position and respect for the spiritual heritage of the Ukrainian people.
