Life of the university before and after the full-scale invasion of Russia in Ukraine, reforming higher education and human resources and other issues were discussed by the Head of the National Police of Ukraine, General of Police Ihor Klymenko and Director of the Department of Education, Science and Sports of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Inna Yashchuk with cadets, students and faculty staff of University. The meeting was held on June 16 during a working trip to Kropyvnytskyi.
The guests inspected the material and technical base of the university, discussed with the management the directions of further development of Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs, the central capacity of which was moved from Mariupol to Kropyvnytskyi due to the Russian war against Ukraine.
“Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs is a rare example when a team created a powerful University from a small educational institution. The last time I was at the Donetsk Law Institute (name University at that time) in 2013 in Donetsk. Even then, the institution was a serious base for training specialists for the National Police of Ukraine. So, I see many of you not at first time. Each of you has your own story. Having lost your home, you have found strength in yourself, you have not betrayed the Oath and you are true patriots of Ukraine – a strong state that protects its identity, “Ihor Klymenko told the University team.
“Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs is a team of strong people. You have shown an example of mutual respect, strength of spirit, extremely high patriotism and support for each other, and in my opinion, this is a heroic act. I express great respect from the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. I follow the development milestones in your team, I watch the scientific component develop, the dissertation defense council starts working, I watch you build the strategy of the introductory campaign.
Department of Education, Science and Sports of the Ministry of Internal Affairs see how you are gaining momentum and what statistics are provided by the recruitment team today in the conditions of relocated institution. I follow in the mass media, what volunteer socially useful activity cadets are engaged in. So, I see how you are educating them and forming the true police officer, – the director of Department of education, science and sports of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine noted.
During the meeting, the heads of the Ministry of Internal Affairs answered questions from the staff of the University about the possibility of assigning special police ranks to seconded police officers in higher education institutions; the development and adoption of the Ministry of Internal Affairs order on the approval of the Regulation “On mentoring in the National Police of Ukraine”; the possibility of training law enforcement specialists on combat cybercrime on the basis of University.
Rector of the University Serhii Vitvitskyi noted the importance of the meeting for the entire staff of the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs. In his speech, he revealed the issues of life support of the team and the ability of personnel to perform tasks to serve the Ukrainian people. He outlined the strategy for the development of the University, achievements in the field of education and science, police training, and scientific support of law enforcement activities.
