Librarians Tetiana Zavalei and Nataliia Baianova from the General Library of the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs (DonSUIA) conducted a practical orientation session for first-year cadets titled «The Cadet’s Information Outpost: An Introduction to the DonSUIA Library».
During the meeting, the students were told of library usage rules and organization of lending and reading room services. The librarians also showcased the book collections, thematic exhibitions, new acquisitions, and professional publications of the DonSUIA.
In addition, the cadets were shown the capabilities of the University’s Internet center and repository, which houses electronic versions of research papers, textbooks, dissertations, and articles authored by the University academic staff.
Particular attention was paid to the library’s scientific and information support services. The first-year students learned about the opportunity to receive guidance on formatting reference lists in accordance with State Standards of Ukraine (SSU), as well as on determining UDC codes and authors’ marks.
To conclude the event, the cadets were presented with “VIP GOLD” library cards, which will grant their holders additional privileges when using library resources.
