On the Day of Mourning and commemorating the victims of the war in Ukraine, representatives of the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs took part in commemorative events in Kropyvnytskyi.
A formation of cadets and officers took place on the University’s parade ground and a wreath-laying ceremony was held at the Heroes Memorial. Addressing those present, the University’s rector, Serhii Vitvitskyi, emphasized: «Today we honor the memory of millions of people – military and civilians, whose lives were taken by the war. Their memory is our moral duty and a reminder of the price of peace. Only by preserving historical truth and honoring the feat of our predecessors will we be able to build a strong and independent future for Ukraine».
The event participants also visited the «Fortress Ramparts» memorial complex, where they honored the fallen with a minute of silence on the Alley of Remembrance. Those present laid flowers at the Eternal Flame and lit lamps as a symbol of eternal memory of the courage and self-sacrifice of Ukrainians who fought for freedom and dignity of their people.
