Rector Assistant for Gender Issues of the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences Kateryna Voievoda took part in a working trip to the city of Vilnius (the Republic of Lithuania), dedicated to studying the international experience of localizing the National Action Plan for the Implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 «Women, Peace, Security» in the security and defense sector.
Within the framework of the program, meetings with representatives of government structures, international organizations and institutions responsible for implementing the principles of equality and non-discrimination were held. During the meeting at the Office of the Ombudsman on Equal Opportunities, Kateryna Voievoda presented the «Guide on Ethical and Barrier-Free Communication with People with Disabilities» developed by the DonSUIA. The publication aroused interest among Lithuanian colleagues as a practical tool for creating an inclusive and barrier-free environment in educational and state institutions.
The participants also learned about the experience of Lithuanian institutions in implementing the principles of UN Resolution 1325 «Women, Peace, Security», ensuring gender equality and developing an inclusive environment. Particular attention was paid to interdepartmental interaction, participation of women in decision-making processes, development of inclusive leadership and response to crisis situations. In addition, practices of coordination between state bodies, monitoring the implementation of National Action Plans and forming a culture of non-discrimination were considered.
The DonSUIA representative’s participation in the international study visit was another step towards strengthening the University’s cooperation with international partners and implementing best European practices in the field of gender equality, human rights, and inclusive security.
The trip took place within the framework of the project «Building Inclusive Security: Localizing NAP 1325 throughout Ukraine», which is being implemented by the Ukrainian Women’s Fund with the support of the Kingdom of the Netherlands government.
