The Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs hosted an athletics championship among higher education institutions with specific training conditions that belong to the sphere of management of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Emergency Service, higher military educational institutions of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, the National Guard of Ukraine, as well as lyceums of security orientation and national-patriotic education of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Military Lyceum of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
The event was held under the general guidance of the Department of Education, Science and Sports and the Department for Monitoring the Activities of Lyceums of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
At the opening of the championship, the participants and guests sang the National Anthem of Ukraine and honored the memory of the fallen Heroes and civilians who died as a result of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation with a minute of silence.
The DonSUIA rector, police colonel Serhii Vitvitskyi, addressed the audience with a welcome speech. In it, he wished the athletes fair struggle, high results and endurance, emphasizing the importance of sports in the formation of discipline and professional qualities of future law enforcement officers and military personnel.
17 national teams came together in an uncompromising struggle for the title of the most agile. Athletes competed in individual and team events at distances of 100, 400, 1000 and 3000 meters, as well as in a spectacular combined relay race (100+200+300+400 meters).
During the award ceremony, Deputy Director of the Department of Education, Science and Sports of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Police Lieutenant Colonel Yehor Nazymko addressed the participants: «This sports day brought together representatives of educational institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the National Guard of Ukraine, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and the State Emergency Service. On the sports tracks, you demonstrated not only a good level of training, but also endurance, discipline, respect for the opponent and true team spirit. I congratulate the winners and prize-winners of the championship. Your achievements are the result of daily work, perseverance and professional work of coaches and mentors. At the same time, I am convinced that the main result of such competitions is the sports unity of youth, exchange of experience and strengthening of team interaction between future specialists of different units of the system».
According to the results of the competition, the places in the general team standings were distributed as follows:
Among higher education institutions:
1st place was won by the Bohdan Khmelnytskyi National Academy of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine;
2nd place was won by the National University of Civil Defense of Ukraine;
3rd place was won by the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs.
Among the lyceums of the Ministry of Internal Affairs:
1st place was won by the Military Lyceum of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine;
2nd place was won by the Vinnytsia Lyceum of Security Orientation and National-Patriotic Education named after Nazarii Hryntsevych of the Lviv State University of Life Safety;
3rd place was won by the Kyiv Lyceum named after Yaroslav Kondratiev of the National Academy of Internal Affairs.
The winners and prize-winners of the championship were awarded cups, diplomas and medals.
