Denys Omelkovets is a man whose will turned out to be stronger than the circumstances. In 2023, he stood up for the defense of the Motherland, joining the ranks of the Land Forces of Ukraine. While performing a combat mission, Denis was seriously injured. Due to the prolonged lack of medical care in the combat zone, he unfortunately lost his right lower limb.
Having completed theoretical and practical training courses at the «Barrier-Free Driving School» of the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs, Denys successfully mastered all the skills of driving a car.
«I am sincerely grateful for such an organization: everything is accessible and understandable. Today, a driver’s license for me is much more than just a document. This is my real opportunity to be mobile again and feel true independence», the veteran noted
His story once again proves: no obstacles will stop the one who has a strong desire to move forward.
The project the «Barrier-Free Driving Schools» is being implemented by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine as part of the initiative of First Lady Olena Zelenska.
