On August 29, Ukraine observes Remembrance Day to honor the defenders who died in the struggle for the independence and territorial integrity of the state.
During morning formation on the parade ground of the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs, representatives of cadets and staffers of the University, together with rector Serhii Vitvitskyi, performed the National Anthem of Ukraine, bowed their heads in a minute of silence and laid flowers at the memorial sign “To the Heroes of Ukraine”
Flowers and tributes were also paid at the Alley of Glory of the Rivne Cemetery, and the cadets joined the city-wide events at the Heroes’ of Maidan Square, where a ceremony of awarding state and regional awards took place.
Throughout the day, at both locations of the DonSUIA, an all-Ukrainian campaign “Table of Memory” will be held, in honor of the fallen Heroes. The table will remain non-occupied throughout the day as a symbol of waiting for those who will not return.
