A regular meeting of a discussion club on «Community policing: effective communication» was held at the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs, participated by Jan Danko (Slovakia), a representative of the European Union Advisory Mission, advisor/trainer on community policing.
The expert shared his experience of working in the communities of his country and spoke about the main responsibilities of a police officer.
In the course of a constructive discussion, the students identified common features, differences and peculiarities of using effective communication in their professional activities. Mr. Danko spoke about the main types of communication and effective means of communication for police officers, in particular: «Robert Peel’s Principle», «Elements of Personal Communication», «Betari Box Model», «5 Universal Ways of Human Communication», «8 Principles of Verbal Judo».
The cadets also learned techniques to counteract aggressive communication from citizens.
The event was held in a language laboratory equipped with financial assistance of the European Union as part of the project «Support to the Displaced Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs».
