Higher education seekers of the faculty of training specialists for pre-trial investigation units of the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs Anastasiia Balanenko, Arina Talmazan, Elyzaveta Popovych, Yuliia Bereza together with associate professor of the department of operational investigation and information security Sergii Pekarskyi and a lecturer of the department of criminal procedure and forensics Dina Drobenko, participated in the work of «Winter school for investigating crimes related to human trafficking» for the representatives of higher education institutions subordinate to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The goal of the project is to improve professional competence of law enforcement officers by introducing to them modern approaches as well as organizing an educational process, using interactive teaching methods and digital technologies.
The participants explored the methodology of practically-oriented training based on simulation exercises and acquired skills in conducting investigative (search) actions while investigating crimes related to human trafficking. Special attention was paid to the following issues: inspection of the scene of the event and forensic examination of digital devices; search of the premises; interviewing victims (including minors); and providing basic psychological assistance.
Having mastered the school program, the cadets and the University teachers gained experience and knowledge they are going to use in the educational process and their professional activities. The event was held within the framework of a joint project of the OSCE Support Program for Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Police of Ukraine.
