The online webinar on the topic “Criminal Analysis and Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) in Criminal Investigations” was held for cadets of the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs.
Representatives of the European Union Advisory Mission took part in the webinar: Melissa Teernstra from the Netherlands., Manfred Pinnigger from Austria, Bohdan Denysenko from Ukraine.
Melissa Teernstra is an experienced tactical analyst. She gave an example of a criminal investigation and described the challenges faced by the investigation team during their work.
Manfred Pinnigger told the cadets about open-source intelligence (OSINT). The basis of this technology is the search, analysis, and use of military, political, economic, and other information for decision-making in the field of national defense, security and investigations.
The EUAM representative Bohdan Denysenko acquainted cadets with law enforcement activity which is controlled by the analyst. According to the specialist, analysis and analyst are key concepts for decision-making.
The experts familiarized the cadets with the peculiarities of analysis and shared their experience which is based on practical skills.
