The «Barrier-Free Driving School» of the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs continues to open up new opportunities for Ukrainian veterans who, after the war, seek to restore an active and independent life. One of those who took a confident step towards new achievements was the veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war Leonid Slichnyi.
After mobilization, Leonid joined the defense of Ukraine, served as an officer in a mountain assault battalion and performed the duties of a commander. Performing a combat mission in the Zaporizhzhia direction, while leading his group out of the danger zone, he was wounded.
After a long treatment and rehabilitation, the veteran did not stop, but set himself a new goal – to acquire driving skills and regain control over his own mobility. That is why he joined training at the DonSUIA «Barrier-Free Driving School», successfully passed his exam and received a category «B» driver’s license.
The project «Barrier-Free Driving School» is implemented by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine as part of the initiative of the First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska and is aimed at creating an accessible environment for everyone who needs it.
