A meaningful discussion on the topic “Gender equality is a key to democratic society” took place at the Mariupol Center for Initial Professional Training “Police Academy” of the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs.
During the meeting, the participants discussed: international standards and national legislative norms in the field of ensuring gender equality; the role of police officers in creating a just society free from discrimination; practical examples of the situations, when considering gender aspects increases the efficiency of communication and helps prevent conflicts. The impact of gender culture on the development of democratic institutions in Ukraine was also considered.
Particular attention was paid to the issue of mutual respect in professional activities of police officers, because every day they communicate with different social groups, including vulnerable categories of the population.
At the end of the class, the students completed the simulator test “Gender Equality and Social Inclusion in Communications” on the educational portal Diia.Osvita. The interactive platform enabled each law enforcement officer to consolidate the knowledge they had gained, to practice decision-making skills in the simulated situations and realize the importance of an inclusive approach in professional communications.
Based on the results of completing the simulator test, the trainees received personalized certificates confirming the acquired knowledge and competences in the field of gender equality and social inclusion.
